Dear Internet,

This week I went to Ecuador with my school. We arrived in Quito and got to travel on a gondola up Pichincha Volcano. Then we moved to the coast to Manta and got to learn about Panama hat making, the process of producing chocolate from the cacao bean, and we got to watch the carving of Tagua (Ivory nuts). We also got to boat to Isla de la Plata and hike a trail, where we saw a lot of Blue-footed boobies, and later went snorkeling. The next day we went to the small community of Agua Blanca and learned about their culture, we also got to see an excavation site and learn what they had discovered about the past in Aqua Blanca through archeology. We also got to explore Otavalo and meet kids from their local school as well as

explore the famous Otavalo market just before heading home. It was amazing, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. If you ever go to Ecuador, you have to visit the Galapagos or the Otavalo market. We did not get to go to the Galapagos, but I heard that it is even more beautiful than Isla de la Plata

xoxo,

Sydney
